Freshers Week 2015 Combined Wristband Ticket Options

These tickets are for new students ONLY!

Combined tickets (wristbands) grant entry to all events except Roller Disco in University Hall on Sunday 4th October. Tickets must be bought separately for this event.

Wristbands are limited to one per student.
Wristbands guarantee you entry before 11pm (with the exception of Comedy Night which has limited capacity). Any remaining tickets or spaces will be available on the door each night at 11pm. If you have a wristband and arrive after 11pm you may have to queue, will not be guaranteed entry, but will not be required to pay again.

You MUST be in the queue before midnight - which is our last entry time.

Wristband and ticket collection will be on Saturday 26th September in Rubix from Midday to 6pm. Please try to, but if you are unable to make these times then you will be able to collect your wristband on the door when Rubix opens any night. We will set up a collection station on each night - but there may be a long wait. In order to collect your ticket you must bring proof-of-age (Passport or Driving License). Please note: Admission to Fresher's Week events is strictly over 18's only.

Welcome Party with Lawson!

After a series of prolific festival appearances, 5 top 10 hits, and a top 5 album, Lawson are ready to help kick start your Freshers week!
Made up of four extremely talented musicians, full live band Lawson, promises to make your first night at Surrey nothing short of incredible. Playing some of their most recognisable singles; ‘Standing in the Dark’, ‘Juliet’ and ‘When She Was Mine’, Rubix will be a chorus of singing voices and waving hands; get ready for a new level of pop / rock band!

Tessellate: Stag Radio’s top DJs bring you some of the best indie tunes in Guildford from the Living Room! Expect to hear some proper indie bangers!

SUNDAY 27th:

ROCKAOKE are the UKs original, BEST and only SPECIALIST live karaoke band, inviting their audience to “live the dream” by taking to the stage and singing with a live rock band.

So here is our first chance to find out which of you freshers like to stand out from the crowd! Who is brave enough to get on stage and belt out a song with the backing of a full live band and all of their prospective new friends watching?! Don’t worry if it’s not for you, you can stand back and laugh and there will be plenty of dancing!

MONDAY 28th:
Krept and Konan!

South London based rap duo Krept & Konan formed in 2009 after operating as individual artists and as part of the rap group Gipset, who were in action throughout the back end of the 00’s.
Krept & Konan have won a number of awards including Best International Act at the BET Awards and Best Newcomer at The MOBO Awards in 2013. The duo has kicked off the year with 2 singles Certified and Freak Of The Week, which featured Jeremih and Rick Ross.

The freshest underground tunes, everything from DnB and techno to house and jungle, all played by our expert DJs down in the Living Room under Rubix.

Comedy Night

Bringing you some of the newest acts on the circuit right through to Edinburgh Fringe favourites. Arrive early at Rubix if you want to be guaranteed a seat for this jam-packed night of laughs.

WEDNESDAY 30th:
Headphone Disco
Rubix
10.00pm – 2.00am
Surreal, bizarre, slightly outrageous but most of all hugely enjoyable, Headphone Disco is one of the most exciting clubbing experiences to emerge in recent years and has been rocking the club and festival circuits. Headphone Disco are the biggest ‘silent party’ people around performing their unique ‘TwoDeejaySuperShow’ to enthusiastic crowds around the world.
You will be armed with your own set of wireless two-channel headphones; the sound-system will be switched off; two DJs will spin two completely different sets side by side from Headphone Disco’s visually enhanced stage set-up.
Two styles of music. Both at the same time. Taking part is fun, watching from the side is hilarious!

No Wave in the Living Room
No Wave is the university’s RockSoc, prided upon being the longest-running active society on campus, at 38 years young. Deep within the bowels of Rubix is where you will find us, our resident DJs spinning the best in alternative music.
Whether your taste is rock, metal, punk, ska, industrial or anything in-between, seek out the stairs leading to The Living Room, and you will emerge onto our dance floor and into a haven filled with those with an undying love of alternative music

THURSDAY 1st:
DJ Fresh!

Visionary hit maker and label owner DJ Fresh takes to the stage! DJ Fresh’s back catalogue makes him something of a legend in electronic music. Fresh has cemented his place in history by releasing both the UK’s first dubstep number 1 “Louder” and first drum and bass number 1 “Hot Right Now”, both from his album Nextlevelism.
He has since scored huge hits alongside the likes of Diplo, Ellie Goulding, Dizzee Rascal, Sian Evans and Rita Ora, with whom he scored the UK’s first ever drum ‘n’ bass Number 1 with ‘Hot Right Now’
Look out for the American Freshman Bus Big Yellow Bass Bus on campus during the daytime! They will have goodies, giveaways, competitions, music and DJ tutorials!

Presha Bass Music in the Living Room
Presha Bass Music is the home of underground dance and bass music at Surrey. Expect to hear a wide range of styles covered including house, techno, dubstep, grime, dnb and much more. It’s set to be another huge year for Presha so don’t miss out!

Hari’s Bar - Open Mic Night
5.00pm – 9.30pm
Arrive from 6pm onwards and sign up for a 10 minute slot (2 songs max). Bring your own instruments or use the house guitar. 2 mins and PA all provided…. just turn up and play!

Flirt! Paint vs Foam

Two of the BIGGEST messiest parties join forces for a night of pure wet and wild fun!
Come prepared to get wet, don’t wear anything you want to wear again and definitely don’t wear heels or flip flops!

Stag Radio presents 80s Electronic in the Living Room
Stag Radio takes you back in time to the decade that gave you the Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell and Depeche Mode. For your Freshers Week dose of vintage synth and ancient drum machines, join us in the Living Room!

DJ Wire

Get ready for a night of partying as Example and DJ Wire take to the stage!
His string of top 10 hits including #1’s ‘Changed the Way You Kiss Me’ and ‘Stay Awake’, whilst his hugely successful collaborations with the likes of Calvin Harris, Chase & Status and Nero, have helped elevate him to become one of the jewels in the crown of contemporary British music.

SUNDAY 4th:
Freshers’ Hangover Breakfast

Down in the Living Room hidden away underneath Rubix, you’ll find a little jewel called Youngs Kitchen. When you finally roll out of bed after eight nights of solid partying, make your way there and she’ll be waiting to serve you a good old fry up! FREE for wristband holders.
