Surrey Nightline’s fundraiser run for Samaritans Ticket Options

Join us in running for the Samaritans!

Surrey Nightline have organised this event to raise money for the Samaritans listening service during this incredibly difficult time.

We, as a team, are running 5km, 10km or more and raising money whilst in isolation.

Please feel free to run in teams, such as societies or clubs as we will have a leaderboard of the team that runs the furthest, with results posted on 20th May 2020. Will your team come out on top?

To enter, buy a free ticket on Tixtu and email us at ussu.nightline@surrey.ac.uk with your runs so we can add you to the leaderboard. We recommend tracking your runs with Nike+, RunKeeper, Strava or alternative run trackers.

More information on Samaritans:

Samaritans' vision is that fewer people die by suicide. Every 90 minutes, someone in the UK or Ireland dies by suicide, and every six seconds somebody contacts Samaritans for help.

The Samaritans have also supported Nightline in the past at events and helping to train volunteers, spending over 200 hours with Nightline since we were founded at Surrey in early 2016!

Samaritans provide a totally confidential conversation with someone you don't know can often feel easier than trying to talk to friends or family.

You also don't have to be suicidal to Samaritans. People often call because of:

* Relationship and family problems
* Loss, including loss of a job, a friend or a family member through bereavement
* Financial worries
* Job-related stress or overwork
* Body image issues
